Thyssen Mining is currently seeking an Underground Mining Project Manager for one of our projects located in British Columbia.
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, safety, financial performance, and successful delivery of underground mining projects. This role provides leadership to project teams while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client requirements, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
The Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between the company, client representatives, project stakeholders, and site personnel while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence, workforce development, and profitability.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the Thyssen Safety Management Plan is implemented, followed and practiced at the site. Responsible for the effective promotion of safety and accountable for the safety performance at the site.
- Ensure that good relations are maintained with our client and that the Company’s interests are promoted at every opportunity to maximize our ongoing participation at this site. This includes the liaison with the client representatives and the attendance at daily, weekly and monthly project meetings as needed.
- Ensure that the best effort is made to maximize profitability for the site by proper cost control and effective management of resources.
- Ensure that the project achieves the performance as required by the client and the Company. Responsible for organizing the necessary resources required to achieve the project targets and accountable for the overall project performance.
- Ensure that the Company policies are adhered to with regards to safety, environment, HR, recruitment, payroll, assets, procurement and other polices as they are implemented from time to time.
- Responsible for recruitment in addition to management of the existing workforce.
- Responsible for the preparation and timely submission of daily, weekly and monthly project reports as required by the client and the Area manager. Reports to include schedule performance, cost performance and procurement status. All correspondence to the client will be approved and forwarded to the Area Manager.
- In conjunction with the Area Manager, responsible for the preparation and timely submission of the monthly invoice and any required forecasts for the project.
- Coach and mentor, superintendents and mine captains.
- Assist with estimating and tender submission for projects.
- Perform other duties as required by the Company.

- Computer usage – operations specific software
