Currently we are looking for a licensed Tool and Die Maker. You will be responsible for carrying out tooling inspections, repairs, maintenance and modification of machinery and equipment.
Duties:
- Perform preventative maintenance on plastic injection molds and hot runner manifolds including disassembly, cleaning, inspection for damage or wear, repair, and re-assembly
- Set up, operate and maintain a variety of conventional and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to cut, turn, mill, plane, drill, bore, grind or otherwise shape workpiece to prescribed dimensions and finish
- Fabricate mold inserts, mold components, fixture, and tooling with and without engineering
- Machine, fit and assemble parts to make metal molds and cores for plastic injection molding processes
- Test completed tools, dies, jigs or fixtures for proper operation
- Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools
- Verify machined parts for conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as verniers, calipers, micrometers, co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM) and electronic measuring devices
- May program CNC machine tools.
- Work close with the R&D Project Administrator to develop and/or modify mold and fixtures
- Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, tooling drawings and work process documentation
- Follow process related instructions, procedures, and requirements
- Evaluating and completing die repair sheets to correct issues prior to approval
- Documenting die check list on the completing of dies and signed-off by Supervisor
- Identify and establish Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when needed for disposition
- Support production team members to ensure proper quality output and safe operations
- Own the cleanliness of your work area
- Work in a food grade facility
- Actively participate in root cause analysis sessions for mould and quality issues (Flash, Holes, Cracks in Plastic, Etc.)
Requirements:
- Completion of high school is required
- 3-5 years of experience in tool making
- 3-5 years of experience with plastic injection molding or plastic thermoforming machines
- Experience with and understanding of the injection moulding process for thin wall parts to collaborate on issues from production/quality.
- The ability to comfortably to flip and split 4 to 10000lbs moulds on the bench and in the press.
- The ability to be on your feet for 12 hours, climb in and out of machines, install cores/cavities into moulds while in the press.
- The ability to work under pressure and tight timelines
- Basic understanding of technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Ability to project steps, and complete tasks on a timely basis
- Ability to anticipate potential problems for correction based on experience
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs
- Ability to work independently
- Strong written and oral communications skills and experience
