We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Refrigeration Technician to join our Service Team.
Job Summary
The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining commercial refrigeration equipment used in food service and restaurant operations. This position requires a dedicated technician who is continually learning their trade, maintains accurate service records, and is flexible with work hours. As a member of the Service Team, you will support customers throughout the Hamilton-Niagara region, the GTA, London, and surrounding areas while helping deliver timely, professional service in support of our 24-hour service model.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in refrigerators, prep tables, ice machines, and other refrigeration systems.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, expansion valves, and refrigerant controls.
- Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
- Respond promptly to emergency service requests and resolve refrigeration issues efficiently.
- Participate in a 24-hour on-call service rotation as required.
- Perform field service work at customer locations throughout the GTA and surrounding regions.
- Maintain accurate records of service calls, labour hours, repairs performed, and parts used through the company's computerized service system.
- Update service logs, equipment history, and inventory records.
- Coordinate with the Service and Parts department to ensure required replacement parts are available.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding diagnoses, repair recommendations, pricing, timelines, and service status.
- Recover, charge, and handle refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and manufacturer specifications.
- Install and replace refrigeration components while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
- Work safely in a variety of environments, including rooftops, ladders, and confined spaces.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, manufacturer guidelines, and industry regulations.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Advantage Restaurant Supply & Service professionally.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic License (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience servicing and repairing commercial refrigeration equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing commercial refrigeration systems used in food service environments.
- Valid Ontario G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Clean driving abstract.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the GTA and surrounding regions.
- Must own and maintain the tools required to perform field service work.
- Basic criminal record check.
- Ability to participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation schedule.
- Strong troubleshooting and refrigeration diagnostic skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Assets
- Experience servicing commercial food service equipment.
- Experience servicing coffee and espresso machines.
- First Aid certification.
- WHMIS certification.
- Fall Arrest and Ladder Safety Training (training can be provided).
Reporting Relationship
Reports Directly To: Director of Parts and Service
Compensation
Compensation will be based on licensing, experience, and qualifications.

- Preference will be given to candidates who hold both a valid G2 Gas Technician (TSSA) License and a 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic License (Dual-Licensed Technicians).
