Position Summary
Assistant, Senior Nursing Resources Office
Your goal in this position is to monitor the daily operation of the Seniors Health Centre and to liaise daily with Charge Nurses and/or Managers of the patient care units to determine staffing requirements. You will schedule part-time nursing staff based on their availability to ensure staffing requests are met and will provide statistics on staffing requirements. You are highly organized, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and can effectively prioritize and multi-task utilizing a flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities. In this role, you will be an effective problem solver and will possess strong communication skills. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to
provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Liaise with staff and managers to co-ordinate staffing requests and needs
- Provide direction for Pool Nurses regarding the Hospital’s policies and procedures
- Prepare and maintain time schedule requests and attendance records
- Identify and communicate concerns to the Clinical Team Manager and will follow through on
resolution of issues as directed
- Maintain the Nursing Resources Office which includes managing the staffing system, filing and
record keeping
- Collect and record statistics related to agency use and staffing requests from various patient care
units
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years office experience
- College Diploma in Office Administration or other related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with extensive experience in Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in Electronic Payroll systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization and problem solving skills
- Accurate and efficient keyboarding skills, minimum of 45 w.p.m.
- Experience with KRONOS is an asset
