We are seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Associate to join a dynamic and growing litigation practice.This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented litigator looking to take ownership of sophisticated commercial disputes while working alongside a collaborative team of highly regarded legal professionals. The successful candidate will play a key role in advising clients, developing litigation strategy, and advocating on complex matters from inception through resolution.
Our team handles a diverse range of high-value commercial disputes, including shareholder conflicts, construction-related litigation, contractual disputes, and other complex business matters. We offer meaningful responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to contribute strategically to significant litigation files.
Independently manage complex commercial litigation files from commencement through settlement, arbitration, or trial
Handle all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discoveries, motions, mediations, and trial preparation
Advise clients on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and dispute resolution options
Draft pleadings, motion materials, legal opinions, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents
Conduct negotiations and participate in mediations to achieve favourable outcomes
Collaborate with colleagues on complex commercial and construction-related disputes
Develop case strategies and contribute to high-level legal analysis
Maintain strong client relationships through practical, responsive, and strategic legal advice
Manage multiple matters effectively while ensuring compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements
Qualifications
Law degree from an accredited institution
Member in good standing with the applicable Law Society
Minimum 7 years of commercial litigation experience
Strong advocacy, legal research, analytical, and drafting skills
Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation files
Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience with construction litigation, shareholder disputes, or other complex commercial matters is considered an asset
