Shalom Homes Ltd. is a licensed children’s residential program in Alberta, dedicated to providing a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for children and youth who have experienced trauma. Our mission is to deliver trauma-informed care that promotes safety, connection, growth, and healing.
We are currently seeking Community Support Workers (CSWs) to join our team. Opportunities are available for full-time, part-time, and flexible rotating schedules, including week-by-week availability.
We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and professional individuals who are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of youth.
We especially welcome applications from Indigenous candidates (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit). Representation within our team is essential in fostering cultural connection, trust, and a safe environment for the youth we serve.
We also encourage applications from students and graduates in Social Work, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, or related fields. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in trauma-informed care and youth support.
Position Overview
As a CSW, you will be part of a frontline team supporting youth in developing life skills, building relationships, and navigating emotional and behavioral challenges in a trauma-informed environment.
Qualifications

Applicants must have all of the following to be considered:
- One valid Police Information Check (Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector) issued within the last 6 months
- One valid Child Intervention Check issued within the last 6 months
- CPR Certification
- Valid Driver’s License

Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily care and supervision using trauma-informed practices
- Support youth’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being
- Respond appropriately to emotional and behavioral needs
- Implement support plans, including recreational and educational activities
- Encourage cultural connection and community involvement
- Maintain professional relationships with youth and team members
- Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Follow all safety and program procedures
Preferred
- Minimum 3 years of related experience
- Experience supporting children and youth impacted by trauma
- Post-secondary education (completed or in progress) in a related field
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and communities
