General Manager, Dosing (Bakon & Unifiller)
Location: Richmond, BC
Reporting To: President, Coperion Food, Health & Nutrition
Business Scope: Unifiller and Bakon brands globally (~$50M revenue business)
Position Summary
The General Manager, Dosing is the global business leader with full profit and loss responsibility for the Bakon and Unifiller brands. The role is accountable for driving sustainable growth, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and overall financial performance across a global organization serving food, health, and nutrition markets.
As the senior leader of the business, the General Manager is responsible for developing and executing the business strategy while leading all commercial, operational, and functional activities. This includes direct leadership of Sales, Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Supply Chain, and other support functions.
Success in this role requires a highly collaborative leader who can operate effectively within a global, matrixed organization while building strong partnerships across Coperion Food, Health & Nutrition and the broader Hillenbrand enterprise. The General Manager must balance strategic thinking with operational execution, leveraging market insights, customer relationships, financial discipline, and strong leadership to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy that delivers sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
- Establish clear short- and long-term objectives aligned with the strategic priorities of Coperion Food, Health & Nutrition.
- Lead annual operating plans, strategic planning processes, and long-range business planning.
- Identify and evaluate growth opportunities including new products, market expansion, channel development, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
- Drive alignment across functions and geographies to ensure effective execution of business priorities.
- Serve as the primary advocate and leader for the Unifiller and Bakon brands globally.
Full P&L Ownership
- Own all aspects of the business unit's financial performance, including revenue, margins, EBITDA, working capital, cash flow, and return on invested capital.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and operating plans.
- Monitor business performance through key financial and operational metrics and drive corrective actions when needed.
- Ensure disciplined capital allocation and investment decisions that support growth and profitability.
- Lead pricing, commercial, and investment strategies that enhance long-term shareholder value.
- Champion a culture of accountability, financial transparency, and performance management.
Commercial & Customer Leadership
- Lead global sales, service, and commercial teams to achieve growth objectives and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key customers, strategic partners, and industry stakeholders.
- Ensure the voice of the customer is embedded throughout the organization.
- Drive commercial excellence through effective market segmentation, sales processes, channel strategies, and customer engagement.
- Partner with product management and engineering teams to align innovation and product roadmaps with customer needs and market trends.
- Represent the business at major customer engagements, trade shows, and industry events.
Operations & Execution
- Provide leadership for manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, project management, and service operations.
- Drive operational excellence initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery performance, productivity, and cost optimization.
- Oversee capacity planning, manufacturing strategy, and operational footprint decisions.
- Ensure projects are executed successfully and customer commitments are consistently achieved.
- Promote continuous improvement methodologies and a culture of operational discipline.
- Manage risk proactively while ensuring business continuity and strong operational resilience.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead and develop a global management team capable of delivering results in a dynamic business environment.
- Create alignment among commercial, operational, and functional leaders to achieve shared business objectives.
- Foster collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, sales, service, finance, HR, IT, and supply chain functions.
- Build a culture of accountability, transparency, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure succession planning and talent development strategies are in place for key leadership positions.
- Champion employee engagement and organizational health across all locations.
Matrix Organization Leadership
- Partner closely with functional leaders across Coperion Food, Health & Nutrition and Hillenbrand to leverage enterprise capabilities and best practices.
- Effectively balance local business needs with enterprise-wide priorities and governance requirements.
- Lead through influence in a matrix environment where success depends on collaboration and alignment rather than direct authority alone.
- Support enterprise initiatives, business integration activities, and cross-business growth opportunities.
- Act as a visible and trusted leader within the broader organization.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within industrial equipment, machinery, manufacturing, capital equipment, or related industries.
- Demonstrated success leading a business or major business segment with full P&L responsibility.
- Proven experience leading sales, operations, engineering, and support functions within a complex organization.
- Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of revenue growth, margin management, forecasting, and business performance metrics.
- Experience developing and executing growth strategies in global markets.
- Strong customer orientation with a track record of building strategic relationships and driving commercial success.
- Ability to lead and influence within a matrixed, multinational organization.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
Preferred
- MBA or advanced business degree.
- Experience in food processing, bakery equipment, packaging, material handling, automation, or related sectors.
- Experience leading multinational teams and global manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence methodologies.
