Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in. The Senior Accountant is responsible for full-cycle accounting across multiple Canadian and U.S. entities. This role supports the month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, compliance, process improvements, and business operations while ensuring the integrity of the Company's financial records. The successful candidate will partner with operational teams and support the Corporate Controller in strengthening controls, improving reporting, and driving continuous improvement.
This is an in-person position out of our Stoney Creek head office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle accounting across multiple entities, including month-end and year-end close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and maintenance of the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, investigate variances, and support management reporting and forecasting activities.
- Prepare, reconcile, and resolve intercompany transactions, loans, allocations, and cross-charges across multiple legal entities.
- Support accounting for fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, sales taxes (GST/HST and applicable U.S. sales/use taxes), and other recurring accounting cycles.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and expense reports for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.
- Support external audits, including preparation of working papers, supporting documentation, and timely resolution of audit requests.
- Ensure compliance with ASPE, internal accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable Canadian and U.S. regulatory and tax reporting requirements.
- Assist with accounting, tax, and regulatory research, supporting expansion into new jurisdictions and changes in reporting requirements.
- Support ERP optimization, financial system enhancements, reporting improvements, and finance automation initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and internal control enhancements to improve efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
- Partner with operational teams to provide financial guidance, resolve accounting inquiries, and promote adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and day-to-day support to junior accounting staff and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing finance team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- French speaking is an asset
- Experience with CDK/IntelliDealer is an asset.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, Power Query and complex formulas preferred). Power BI experience is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and exercise sound professional judgment.

Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
