Job Summary
Our Public Works Department operates a Level II Wastewater Treatment Facility and Level I Wastewater Collection System and a well-based Level I Water Distribution System. This position includes a variety of duties including the inspection of all systems, ensuring proper operations, managing data collection, and completing reporting requirements. Additionally, the successful candidate will work as part of an integrated team to perform a variety of other jobs that support the Village’s municipal infrastructure and operations from time to time. This job involves outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions, and duties will include the operation of equipment and manual labour as required.

Duties
- Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and operational standards.
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on treatment facilities and associated machinery.
- Manage the operation of a variety of public works equipment such as loaders, sweeper, and other machinery necessary for infrastructure projects & Village maintenance.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment, including lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Assist with the collection and analysis of water samples and data to monitor system performance.
- Support stormwater management activities, road maintenance, and other public works projects as needed.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations, including heavy lifting and equipment handling.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in operating heavy equipment and wastewater treatment systems.
- Prior experience in oil & gas industries or similar fields is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to operate heavy machinery such as loaders, excavators, or similar equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred.
- Relevant certifications or licenses related to wastewater treatment or heavy equipment operation are desirable but not mandatory.

Pay: $37.00-$40.50 per hour
