Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a driven and skilled Marine Technician to join our Service Department.
Responsibilities
· Inspect, diagnose, repair, rig, and maintain marine equipment and trailers to ensure safety, reliability, and peak performance.
· Perform accurate basic and complex diagnostics, identify root cause of failures, and complete repairs correctly.
· Follow manufacturer guidelines, service bulletins, and proper diagnostic procedures.
· Document all repairs using the 3 C’s (Concern, Cause, Correction) with clear and accurate root cause identification.
· Accurately track time and complete repair orders within approved labor timeframes whenever possible.
· Submit complete and accurate parts requests and follow proper warranty procedures, including required documentation and photos.
· Communicate clearly with Service Advisors regarding repair status, delays, and additional work required.
· Proactively identify additional service opportunities that benefit the customer and increase repair order value.
· Conduct final quality control checks and ensure units are clean, damage-free, and ready for delivery.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
· Operate dealership vehicles, tractors, and marine vessels safely, including towing, launching, testing, and reloading boats (Pleasure Craft Operators Card required).
· Participate in ongoing manufacturer training and support Apprentice Technicians when required.
· Performance expectations include maintaining strong productivity, efficiency, high first-time fix rates, and low warranty rework.
Skills & Qualifications
· Strong knowledge of marine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and rigging systems.
· Skilled in diagnostics and root cause analysis.
· Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical bulletins.
· Experience in Marine or Automotive repair required; Journeyperson certification is an asset.
· Proficient with diagnostic equipment and computer-based work order systems.
· Strong time management skills in a flat-rate or production environment.
· Detail-oriented with accurate documentation habits.
· Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Professional, customer-focused attitude with a strong work ethic.
· Physically capable of performing job duties.
· Valid driver’s license with clean abstract required.
· Must supply own basic tools (specialty tools and diagnostic equipment provided).
· Passion for the marine industry and lake lifestyle is a strong asset.
