About Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay
Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay brings communities together to help families build strength, stability, and independence through affordable homeownership. We work alongside donors, volunteers, and community partners to create safe and affordable housing solutions across Northwestern Ontario.
Position Summary
The Fundraiser supports Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay’s fundraising and sustainability efforts by building and maintaining relationships with community members and commercial businesses. This role includes receiving donations from individuals and businesses and processing those donations in an efficient and accurate manner to support Habitat’s operations and programs.
The Fundraiser plays an important frontline role in donor engagement, ensuring that donated goods and materials are handled professionally, documented accurately, and prepared for organizational use or revenue generation in support of Habitat’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Build and maintain positive relationships with individual donors and corporate partners
- Promote in-kind giving and fundraising initiatives supporting Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay
- Act as a professional and welcoming representative of Habitat in the community
- Support donor recognition and ensure accurate donation records
- Participate in outreach activities, donor engagement efforts, and community events
Donation Intake & Processing
- Receive donations from community members and commercial businesses in a professional manner
- Organize and process donations efficiently
- Ensure accurate documentation and support proper donation receipting processes
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized donation areas
Team & Operational Support
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support fundraising and operational needs
- Provide guidance to volunteers assisting with donation intake and processing
- Follow all Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in fundraising, sales, customer service, retail, or community engagement is an asset
- Ability to safely handle and move donated goods (with reasonable accommodation)
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
