Hours: Friday, Saturday, & Sunday 3:00pm - 11:00pm

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you play an essential role in ensuring our YMCA members and program participants enjoy comfortable, positive experiences in our facilities. Through collaborating with the Facility Services team, the Maintenance lead is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained facilities that are ready to meet the needs of all participants, employees, and the general public.
You will

Ensure facility maintenance standards are met and maintained in regard to the overall operations of YMCA owned and operated facilities throughout HRM

Ensure the safe and continual operation of the pools, sauna, and steam rooms; including related equipment, chemicals and cleanliness as required by provincial guidelines and industry standards

Materials management relating to cleaning, maintenance and pool supplies

Monitor and adjust all HVAC control systems as directed by the Maintenance Manager

Perform general cleaning (as needed), project cleaning, set up recreational sport equipment, laundry service and snow removal in building entrances and service areas

Support a culture of continuous improvement and hold an outcome focused approach to facility maintenance and operations
You Bring
-
1-3 Years building maintenance experience
-
Certification in one or more of: Certified Pool Operator (CPO), Electrical/Plumbing, Mechanical HVAC, an asset
- Strong working knowledge and certification in WHMIS

Proven background in support to a multi-program facility (i.e., fitness, aquatics, etc.) an asset

Mechanically minded (i.e. able to repair fitness equipment)

Strong work ethic and flexibility to work irregular hours

Dedication to safety and quality commitment, have proactive mindset

Able to work with minimum supervision

Able to handle multiple, competing tasks

Strong interpersonal and communication skills
