Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Person / Trainee Arborist to join our team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in arboriculture. The role involves assisting with tree care, and site maintenance while developing specialized skills such as rigging, basic chainsaw, and use of trucks and chippers. Ideal candidates are eager to learn, safety-conscious, and passionate about working outdoors to enhance urban and natural environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist with tree pruning, planting, and removal under supervision
- Operate equipment such as chippers and other tools safely and effectively
- Learn and apply rigging techniques for safe tree work
- Maintain safety standards during all operations and work areas
- Support team members in daily tasks to ensure efficient project completion
- Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills
Skills
- Willingness to learn rigging techniques and safety procedures for tree work
- Ability to operate or learn to operate wood chippers, bucket trucks and other equipment such as lifts or cranes
- Strong work ethic with attention to safety protocols
- Good physical condition with the ability to lift heavy loads and perform outdoor labor in various weather conditions
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
