We are currently seeking a Full-Time Patient Care Coordinator to join our Respiratory Care team, supporting both our Ottawa West and Ottawa East clinics. Position Summary
As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will play an important role in supporting patient care by coordinating referrals, scheduling appointments, verifying funding eligibility, and providing exceptional customer service. We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented individual who can effectively manage multiple priorities while meeting critical deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients warmly and assist with purchases, appointment bookings, and general therapy inquiries.
- Answer incoming telephone calls, process faxes, and direct correspondence and inquiries to the appropriate team members.
- Perform general administrative duties, including office supply ordering and clinic support tasks.
- Coordinate telephone and electronic referrals.
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits.
- Verify eligibility and funding criteria through insurance providers and government agencies.
- Process billing for insurance companies and government-funded programs.
- Maintain accurate records of submissions, payments, and patient information.
- Monitor accounts receivable and assist with the collection of outstanding balances.
- Ensure accurate and timely patient charting within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
- Assist clients with CPAP equipment setup and basic education.
- Support marketing initiatives by maintaining clinic literature, assisting with social media activities, and collecting patient experience feedback.
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical administrative or healthcare office setting.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and work effectively under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to follow processes, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Strong listening skills and willingness to accept and apply feedback.
Assets
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Medical Administration, or a related field.
- Experience in retail sales or merchandising.
- Knowledge of CPAP therapy and sleep apnea treatment.
- Experience with Blueprint, QuickBooks, EMR systems, and insurance/government funding portals.
- Experience working in a healthcare, respiratory, or medical clinic environment.
