Columbia Glazing Systems Inc. is a leading Canadian manufacturer of architectural glazing systems for the commercial building industry. We offer a complete portfolio of glazing solutions including: Unitized and site glazed curtain wall, entrances and storefronts, specialty glass walls, windows and doors, skylights and canopies, Interior glazing and custom sunshades.
Columbia Glazing Systems is currently looking for a Project Estimator to join our team.
As an Estimator you will be mainly responsible for building estimates from architectural drawings for new and upcoming projects.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable to entire estimate work cycle from receipt of bid package to the submission of quote letter.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications to determine project scope.
- Prepare accurate and detailed ‘Material Take-Offs’ to request material pricing.
- Participate in pre submission bid reviews with Senior Management and Estimate department.
- Interact with vendors, suppliers, and clients regarding projects on pricing and project scope.
- Prepare and submit attractive, accurate and competitive bid packages with detailed bid price tender proposal letters.
- Work with the Project Management and Design teams on preliminary project design.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD
- Background in construction or architectural technology
- Aptitude in math, keen attention to detail and highly organized.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a similar position
- Must be able to read architectural and structural drawings and specifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to correspond with clients and vendors in a courteous, clear and concise manner.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects based on deadlines and other requirements.
- Educational Background: Architectural Technology Certificate/Degree, Engineering Degree, or Construction Estimator Certificate
- Language - Fluent English required
Other:
- Working hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Familiarity with glazing systems & architectural facade products, window/vents, curtain wall, and skylight systems is an asset.
- Previous experience in the glazing industry is an asset.
- Must be able to work independently and under pressure
- Must have good attention to detail and be able to meet tight deadlines
- Salary: TBD – Based on previous experience
