We have an exciting temporary, full-time opportunity for a skilled, enthusiastic and innovative Social Worker I (SWI) within the Edmonton Mental Health Youth Diversion Program. The Youth Diversion Program assists youth ages 12-17 years who are charged with low risk, minor offense(s) and have mental health and/or substance use concerns. The team works closely with the youth, their caregivers, justice partners as well as health and community partners to assist in working on personally meaningful goals that build on the youth’s strengths while addressing health and social needs. The ability to successfully engage with stakeholders is a must in this position. The successful candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team. This position reports to a Care Manager and consultation with the clinical team and supervisors is important. This role includes the following responsibilities: attending court to gather and screen referrals, coordinating and connecting clients with community services and supports.
As a Social Worker I, you will be a member of a multi- disciplinary team that provides mental health services to individuals, families and/or groups at a community based facility. You will be responsible for the initial screening of patients by gathering and documenting client information, basic assessment and providing support to clients and their families' short-term needs. You will liaise with and refer clients to appropriate community and government services and support, along with participating in case conferences and team meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of diploma in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
