- Annual base salary range for this position may be CA150,000 to CA$170,000, depending on experience and fit.
THE FINANCE MANAGER OPPORTUNITY
Canadian Turner Construction Company is seeking a full-time Finance Manager. The role will be based at either the Vancouver or Toronto head office and must be available to work on-site Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with monthly travel to the other office as required by business needs.
The Finance Manager oversees the Finance, Accounting, and Cost departments and serves as the primary liaison to Turner’s local profit center projects. The role is responsible for profit center financial reporting and financial risk management to ensure adherence to company policy and procedure and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
As a Finance Manager, you will:
- Create supportive environment to develop high performing finance team, provide professional development opportunities and engage in coaching and mentoring relationships.
- Lead Finance and other related team members, provide timely performance feedback and contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle utilizing talent management systems.
- Develop and deliver training to educate staff members regarding related department processes.
- Provide financial and business decision leadership for core business activities and development of new business opportunities.
- Work closely with profit center executive team as advisor, counselor and highly valued partner.
- Collaborate with general manager on execution of business strategies, providing support as necessary for key business decisions.
- Active participation in monthly Executive VP strategy and operating meetings.
- Collaborate with leadership team on development and preparation of annual profit plan and forecasting reports.
- Develop, analyze, and present periodic financial statements and reports for profit center.
- Improve systems, processes and procedures to effectively support profit center, leaders and finance as a whole.
- Lead cash management and profit enhancement initiatives.
- Ensure required bonding and insurance is obtained and maintained as required.
- Assist Tax department with local municipality tax issues.
- Oversee billing issuance, collection, and overdue receivables.
- Manage financial compliance to ensure rigorous and ethical standards of compliance with external requirements (e.g., GAAP, IAS, FARS, ERISA, IRS) and internal company policies (Accounting, Risk Management and Cost).
- Drive focus on financial risk management and support the development and implementation of policies/procedures, ensure clear and concise communication of standards to internal constituents.
- Actively promote Turner through involvement in outside organizations.

Is this the right role for you:
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited degree program with minimum of 10 years of related experience in project or construction finance supporting field operations. If the Bachelor’s Degree is not in Finance or Accounting or a related finance field, completion of, or a commitment to pursue within one year, an approved accounting certificate (e.g., post baccalaureate coursework or an accredited certification program such as CMA, CFA, or among others) or advanced business degree (e.g., MBA or Finance related Master’s Degree) is required
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting implications of various contract terms
- Keen analytical ability required to review, assess, and interpret trends of large quantities of disparate financial data and audit and prepare forecasts with focus on risk management
- Experience with financial oversight, monitoring, and strategic financial planning
- Must keep abreast of current financial industry trends and updates
- Operate at an accelerated performance level with ability to prioritize many simultaneous complex and competing demands activities, requests, and short-cycle deadlines for self and team
- Proficient computer skills, financial system applications (e.g., SAP), and Microsoft Office suite of applications with advanced MS Excel skills

- Management experience required with ability to observe performance, identify areas of development, and effectively provide performance feedback
