As a member of our accounting team, the Fixed Asset Accountant assists in supporting capital expenditures project administration and reporting as well as accounting for the fixed assets and leases that are generated from them. They are responsible for conducting the transactional processing, performing the month end activities and doing all the account reconciliation work as well as accounting for specifically assigned functions. While performing these duties, they ensure compliance with USGAAP, and with the organization's policies and procedures.
The individual in this position will work closely with the Controllership/Accounting Management group and other personnel in the Operations and Finance groups.
What will you do:
Ensure that all capital & intangible asset transactions are properly accounted for and maintained in the General Ledger
Administrative coordination of all capital & lease approvals and preparation of all related reporting, including budgeting and forecasting
Provides support to other departments regarding appropriate accounting treatment of capital projects
Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting
Ensures all accounting activity is following internal and external regulations and requirements and assists with gathering information for audits
Prepares journal entries as needed to complete specifically assigned functions
Responsible for the preparation of various reports and movement schedules for the asset and liability accounts for capital, leases, and intangibles
Other duties as assigned
What you will bring:
Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance, CGA or CPA preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance
Strong working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP
Experience with a large portfolio of fixed assets and experience with lease accounting (ASC842).
Exposure to a SOX compliant environment
Knowledge of AS400, Tableau, Smartview and Oracle ERP considered an asset
Strong proficiency with Excel
Highly attentive to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Fluency in French and English considered an asset

Total Posting Range: $70,000 to $80,000
