This flexible, part-time role supports a client in the hospitality industry, requiring adaptability for changing shift times.
Hours and Schedule
- Hours: Part-time range 12 to 30 hours per week depending on coverage needs.
- Shift Structure: Split shifts on weekends:
- Morning: 4 hours
- Evening: 2 hours
- Flexibility Required: Schedule varies depending on statutory holidays where you may need to stay or when covering shifts for the full-time staff person.
Compensation
- Morning Shifts: $23.00 per hour
- Evening Shifts: $25.00 per hour
- Overnight Premium: A flat rate of $100.00 per day applies for mandatory overnight stays.
- Overnight Rule: Overnight stays are only required when both the wife and parents are traveling together. If either the wife or a parent is home, overnight stays are not required.
Detailed Job Duties and Physical Demands Training Provided
- Personal Care and Hygiene: Provide full, respectful assistance with:
- Bathing and dressing.
- Oral hygiene such as teeth brushing and overall oral care.
- Comprehensive bathroom assistance including transferring onto the toilet and proper cleaning afterward.
- Mobility and Transfers: Safely move, turn, and manipulate a client weighing between 150 and 160 pounds.
- Equipment Use: Execute transfers using a mechanical power lift. No raw manual lifting of the client's full weight is required, but physical strength and confidence with lifts are essential.
- Physical Therapy: Physically execute prescribed physical therapy stretching routines exactly as directed.
- Home Support: Light meal preparation and general home upkeep during shift blocks.
Position Requirements
- Language: Must speak either English or Spanish. Spanish fluency is considered an asset, but it is not a strict requirement.
- Experience: None required. Novice caregivers are encouraged to apply.
- Background Checks: Both a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check are strict requirements. You may start employment while these checks are in progress, but obtaining and passing both is mandatory to continue employment.
- Environment: Must respect a strictly sober, drug-free, smoke-free private home environment.
- Legal Status: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
