QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Safe food handling certificate
- Ability to clear a criminal check
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
- Keen attention to cleanliness
- Clear and consistent communication skills
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Compliance and Safety
- Prioritize safety and compliance, following all <Alberta licensing and AHS directives>
- Primary point of contact for AHS in the centre
- Maintain a safe and clean kitchen and prep area at all times
- Ensure proper handwashing and hygiene routines
- Ensure safe food handling and proper labeling
- Follow daily cleaning protocols, and disposal of any broken kitchen items
- Conduct regular safety and appliance temperatures checks to align with AHS requirements
- Understand and respond appropriately to emergency procedures
- Clear understanding of evacuation and lockdown procedures
- Monitoring and managing allergies and dietary restrictions for all children in the centre
- Report all child related concerns or incidence to centre leadership in a timely manner
Kitchen Operations
- Planning, preparation and serving of all meals and snacks
- Cleaning and sanitizing of all dishware following all meals and snacks
- Weekly inventory and food orders based on designed menu
- Maintain kitchen equipment and keep work environment well-organized and sanitized
- Train and support the Kitchen Support position
- Support the Head Chef with feedback and ideas on the seasonal menu
Self-Management
- Adhere to Code of Ethics and Employee Conduct Standards
- Follow centre scheduling and positive attendance record
- Maintain appropriate interactions with all children and families in the centre
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in all duties
- Engage in ongoing learning and skill development
Culture and Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership
- Work collaboratively with all staff to share responsibilities and maintain smooth operations
- Attend mandatory staff meetings
