Payroll Officer (2 positions) for Provincial Government Agency client, North York.

Target Compensation: $36.00 per hour.
Regular Work Hours: FULL TIME WORK HOURS – 7.25 work hours per day, not including unpaid 45 minute lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (36.25 work hours per week).
Work Location: 100% onsite at Client's North York office, near TTC station.
Responsibilities Summary:
Provide full-cycle payroll support within a high-volume payroll environment, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting payroll accounting activities, legislative compliance, and employee payroll inquiries.
- Process full-cycle Canadian payroll using Dayforce (Ceridian) and/or similar payroll systems.
- Validate payroll calculations and ensure payroll accuracy.
- Process payroll adjustments, corrections and reconciliations as required.
- Issue and manage Records of Employment (ROEs).
- Troubleshoot payroll system and processing issues and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Respond to employee and field staff payroll inquiries.
- Support payroll-related reporting, payroll postings and reconciliation activities.
- Maintain compliance with Canadian payroll legislation and statutory requirements including CPP, EI, income tax deductions, WSIB requirements and ROE administration.
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions including invoice matching, processing, posting, approvals and payment tracking.
- Support accounting processes related to payroll postings and reconciliations.
- Additional payroll responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Payroll, Finance, Business Administration or related field, or applicable combination of work experience and education.
Preferred Work Experience: At least 3-5 years of progressive, related work experience processing high-volume Canadian payroll.
Preferred Sector Experience: Public Sector experience is an asset.
Technical and Language Skills Requirements:
- Experience processing full-cycle Canadian payroll using Dayforce (Ceridian) or similar payroll systems.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation.
- Strong knowledge of CPP, EI, income tax deductions, WSIB requirements and Records of Employment (ROE) administration.
- Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong business writing skills, excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax, and polished, professional telephone manners.
Task-Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes:
- Experience supporting Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions including invoice matching, processing, posting, approvals and payment tracking.
- Experience supporting payroll reporting, payroll postings and reconciliations.
- Ability to identify, investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
- Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
- Ability to promptly provide minimum of 2 reasonably recent, qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
- Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
- Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
- Satisfactory Criminal Background Check, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
