ABOUT THUNDER BUILDERS INC.
Thunder Builders Inc. is a construction company specializing in the build-out of telecommunication towers and their reinforced concrete foundations. Our crews deliver the critical groundwork that keeps networks standing - precise, code-compliant, and built to last. We are growing and looking for a hands-on Site Foreman who leads from the front, not from a truck cab.
THE ROLE
We are hiring an experienced Site Foreman / Supervisor to take ownership of telecom tower foundation builds from ground-breaking through final pour and backfill. This is a working foreman position: you will run the crew AND be in the excavation, setting forms, placing rebar, and pouring concrete alongside them. You read the drawings, you set the standard, and you make sure the foundation goes in exactly as engineered - to spec, on schedule, and safely. If you know what a tower foundation should look like before the first shovel hits the ground, and you take pride in getting it dead-on, this role is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead and supervise a crew on telecom tower foundation projects from site setup to completion and demobilization.
- Read, interpret, and execute civil and structural drawings, foundation details, rebar schedules, and engineering specifications with precision.
- Perform hands-on work alongside the crew: excavation, shoring, formwork, rebar placement, anchor-bolt template setting, concrete placement, finishing, curing, stripping, and backfill/compaction.
- Set out and verify foundation locations, elevations, dimensions, and anchor-bolt patterns; confirm everything matches the drawings before the pour.
- Plan the daily workflow - sequence tasks, assign the crew, and keep the job moving efficiently to hit milestones.
- Coordinate concrete deliveries, equipment, materials, and subtrades so the crew is never waiting.
- Run the job safely: enforce site safety procedures, conduct toolbox talks, manage excavation and fall-hazard controls, and keep the site compliant.
- Carry out quality control: slump checks, dimensional checks, inspection hold points, and documentation of pours.
- Communicate daily progress, issues, and material needs to the project manager and resolve problems on the ground as they arise.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and the worksite in good order.
TRAVEL & WORK ARRANGEMENTS - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
This role is based out of our Brampton head office, but it is a heavy-travel position. Project sites are frequently located hundreds of kilometres away from Brampton, and assignments can require staying at or near a site for up to 20 consecutive days before returning home.
- Accommodation and travel/logistics are fully paid for by the company when you are working away from home.
- You must be willing and able to travel for extended periods and stay away from home for the duration of a project phase.
- A reliable ability to be on the road for the job is essential - this is not an office or single-site role.
If you are not comfortable with extended travel and overnight stays away from home, this position is not the right fit.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3-5 years of experience in concrete/civil construction, ideally on telecom tower foundations, deep foundations, or similar reinforced-concrete structures.
- Proven crew leadership - you have managed and directed crews and can keep people productive, safe, and on schedule.
- Strong drawing literacy - you can read and execute structural/civil drawings, foundation details, and rebar schedules without hand-holding.
- Solid, hands-on command of the full foundation process: excavation, formwork, rebar, anchor bolts, concrete placement and finishing, and backfill.
- Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to building to spec, the first time.
- Ability to plan workflow, manage time, and drive efficiency on site.
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding manual work in all weather and field conditions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license with a clean, reliable driving record.
- WHMIS 2015 certification.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada (this role does not offer sponsorship).
- Willingness to travel extensively and stay away from home for up to 20 days at a time.
ASSETS (NOT REQUIRED, BUT A PLUS)
- Working at Heights certification.
- Standard First Aid / CPR.
- Experience operating equipment relevant to foundation work (excavator, skid steer, compaction equipment).
- Surveying / total-station or laser-level experience.
- Telecom or tower-industry site experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Heavy physical labour, including lifting, bending, digging, and working at height or in excavations.
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions across all seasons.
- Long days and extended stretches away from home during active projects.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive pay of $5,000-$7,000 per month, based on experience.
- Company-paid accommodation and travel/logistics for all out-of-town work.
- Steady, hands-on work with a growing company in a specialized field.
- The opportunity to own projects end-to-end and take real pride in the structures you build.
