Carpenter – Multi-Family & Commercial Construction (Grande Prairie)
Terrace Construction Development Inc. is a growing Alberta-based construction management and general contracting company specializing in commercial, institutional, restoration, and multi-family construction. We are currently seeking a Carpenter to join our Grande Prairie team. This position is ideal for an experienced carpenter or a registered apprentice who is actively working toward obtaining their Journeyman Carpenter certification. Individuals with relevant construction experience who demonstrate a strong desire to develop their carpentry skills and pursue certification are also encouraged to apply.
Working under the direction of the Working Foreman and Site Superintendent, the Carpenter will assist in the successful construction of commercial, institutional, restoration, and multi-family projects while maintaining Terrace’s high standards for quality, productivity, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of rough and finish carpentry tasks on commercial, institutional, restoration, and multi-family construction projects.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, layouts, and work instructions.
- Construct and install wood and steel framing, backing, blocking, sheathing, concrete formwork, temporary works, and miscellaneous carpentry.
- Install doors, frames, hardware, windows, siding, soffit, fascia, trims, millwork, decking, stairs, railings, and other architectural components.
- Complete renovations, repairs, deficiencies, warranty work, and general carpentry as directed.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lasers, and other construction equipment required to perform assigned work.
- Assist with layout, material handling, site organization, and work sequencing.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship while ensuring work complies with contract documents, applicable building codes, manufacturer requirements, and Terrace quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with the Working Foreman, Site Superintendent, fellow carpenters, labourers, subcontractors, and the Project Management team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Participate in daily hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, and all company safety initiatives.
- Perform other duties reasonably assigned that align with the nature of the position.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Carpenter Certificate is considered an asset.
- Registered Apprentice Carpenter is preferred.
- Candidates with relevant construction experience who are committed to pursuing a carpentry apprenticeship and obtaining their Journeyman certification will also be considered.
- Experience in commercial, institutional, restoration, or multi-family construction is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications is an asset.
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and continuously develop trade skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while following direction from supervisors.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
