Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement activities within our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing vendor relationships, sourcing materials, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, ERP systems, and negotiation skills to optimize procurement processes and support production efficiency. The Purchasing Manager will play a vital role in maintaining seamless operations by aligning purchasing strategies with company goals and industry best practices.
Duties
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to identify reliable vendors and negotiate favorable terms for materials, components, and services.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality, delivery, and cost standards are met consistently.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP to process purchase orders, track inventory levels, and manage procurement workflows effectively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, logistics, and finance to forecast needs and coordinate supply chain activities.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain disruptions to proactively adjust sourcing strategies.
- Oversee the procurement process from requisition through purchase order issuance, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and performance reviews to maintain high standards of quality and service.
- Optimize inventory levels using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) tools to balance supply with production demands.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP and other supply chain management software.
- Expertise in vendor management, sourcing, negotiation, and pricing strategies.
- Familiarity with MRP systems and supply chain principles.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong supplier relationships.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market data and make data-driven decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
