THE OPPORTUNITY – PROGRAM LEADER - Adapted Recreation and Social & Community Programs
Variable position for 15-20 hours per week. Schedule can vary but includes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday daytime shifts and Friday daytime and evening shifts. There may be opportunities for additional hours on other days.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Work with consumers of all ages and abilities through facilitation of adapted recreation (including multi-sport and aquatics), social and leisure programs
- Assist consumers in developing leisure-related skills and knowledge
- Develop and instruct adapted aquatics programs
- Provide high quality services consistent with Vecova’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Guiding Principles.
- Maintain participation in the program including keeping activities engaging, modifying activities, providing support in challenging activities
- Generate ideas and develop programs in collaboration with the Team Leader
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, respect, confidence, dependability, support, openness, flexibility, and creativity
- Gather input from consumers, respond to suggestions or modify the program to meet the consumer’s goals
WHAT YOU BRING
We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:
- Certification, training or experience in the fields of: rehabilitation, disabilities studies, kinesiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physical education, and/or social work
- Effective communications skills both verbal and written
- Current Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- Experience in recreation and sport, including an aquatics background (competitive or instruction)
- Interest in facilitating social, leisure and recreation-based programs (this can include art, cooking, or game-based activities)
- Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism aligned with Vecova values
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members
- Represent Vecova in a professional manners.
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm .
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity
