Marketing Specialist
Location: Ottawa, On-Site
Reports to: Head of Communications and Marketing
We are looking for a hands-on marketer who can execute across content, social, digital campaigns, events, and PR. You thrive turning strategy into action, managing multiple priorities, and keeping campaigns moving from idea to execution.
You will report to the Head of Communications and Marketing and will work alongside our Creative Director.
This is a hands-on role. You take direction, run with it, and own the coordination and production that keeps campaigns moving. You work independently, manage your own timelines, and free up senior bandwidth by coordinating the details.
Support multi-channel campaigns across digital, out-of-home, social, media, and partnerships, tracking performance and engagement and flagging what to adjust.
Run a publishing cadence and develop a content calendar across channels, producing channel-specific social media content.
Set up, run, and optimize paid marketing campaigns, with a focus on LinkedIn: targeting, budgets, performance, and iteration.
Manage campaign timelines and work-back schedules to keep cross-functional work on track.
Run and manage events: vendor outreach, venue tours, rentals, logistics, and on-site execution.
Work with the Creative Director to develop assets for campaigns and events, including drafting creative briefs and coordinating event collateral.
Support PR and earned media: media lists, monitoring, and coordination.
Hold brand consistency and quality across every touchpoint.
3 to 5 years in marketing, communications, and/or digital marketing.
Background working in startup marketing, journalism, or strategic communications is preferred. Agency or in-house experience is a strong asset.
Hands-on digital marketing skills, including building and running paid campaigns, and an understanding of LinkedIn best practices.
A fast read on voice and tone, and the discipline to hold it across channels.
Strong project management: proactive, organized, deadline-driven, steady when priorities shift.
Sharp written and verbal communication, with real attention to detail.
Experience coordinating creative workflows with designers, content creators, agencies, or freelancers.
Familiarity with marketing, analytics, and project management tools.
Event marketing experience is an asset.
Familiar with AI tools and know how to best use them in creative work.
Basic video editing skills is a bonus.
Bilingualism is a strong asset.
A pull toward startup pace, and toward the mission. We build for Canada's defence and sovereignty, and we want people who care that it gets done.
No defence background required.
We've hired people who didn't tick every box. If this is the work you want to do, please apply anyway.
