Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Sample Technician to join their team. This role is responsible for preparing, packing, receiving, and shipping sample containers while ensuring accuracy, compliance with transportation regulations, and adherence to quality standards. The successful candidate will support shipping and receiving operations, maintain inventory, and help ensure orders are processed efficiently to meet customer expectations.
Please note: this is a 4 week contract with the possibility of an extension/conversion.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, verify, and pack sample containers and shipping materials according to customer orders.
- Inspect orders to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to shipment.
- Package shipments using appropriate packing materials to ensure safe transportation.
- Apply shipping labels and documentation in accordance with transportation and regulatory requirements.
- Organize shipments based on delivery schedules and shipping priorities.
- Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against shipping documentation.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe shipping and receiving work areas.
- Track and maintain inventory of shipping supplies, containers, and related materials.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely order fulfillment and shipment processing.
- Research and coordinate cost-effective shipping methods when required.
- Communicate shipment status, delays, or issues to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
- Follow established quality, safety, and operational procedures.
- Identify process improvements and report operational concerns as appropriate.
- Perform additional warehouse and shipping duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or a similar environment is preferred.
- Experience working in a laboratory or regulated environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and WHMIS is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
