As a Talent Acquisition Partner, you will play a key role in helping SMS Equipment attract and hire the skilled trades and hourly talent that keep our operations running safely and efficiently across Canada and Alaska. We're looking for someone who is service-focused, adaptable, and skilled at building strong relationships with both candidates and hiring leaders.
In this hands-on role, you'll manage full-cycle recruitment, support hiring leaders through competing workforce demands, and deliver a positive, professional hiring experience from sourcing through onboarding. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing high-volume recruitment with strategic partnership and continuous improvement.
Work Location: Acheson, AB
Salary: $95,000 to $100,000 annually, based on experience.
Work arrangement: Hybrid or Remote. Must be located in the Greater Edmonton Area and able to attend the office in Acheson as required, with limited travel across Canada.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work after hours if required.
What You'll Do
- Manage high-volume, full-cycle recruitment for trades (e.g., Heavy Equipment Technician, Electrician, Welder, Parts Technician) and hourly roles (e.g., Labourer, Warehouse Technician) across the organization.
- Execute all hands-on recruitment activities, including posting opportunities, screening resumes, conducting precreens, coordinating interviews, and maintaining ATS records and competition files.
- Collaborate on hard-to-fill and specialized technical searches using targeted sourcing strategies.
- Act as a trusted advisor to hiring leaders to clarify search requirements, coordinate timelines, and provide guidance on candidate selection.
- Collaborate closely with the HR Business Partner team to ensure a unified partnership with hiring leaders and a seamless end-to-end hiring experience.
- Build credibility through technical recruitment expertise and solid business acumen.
- Deliver an exceptional candidate experience, ensuring candidates feel informed, engaged, and valued at every stage.
- Balance multiple requisitions and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and quality outcomes.
- Contribute to recruitment projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You Bring
You bring 5+ years of experience recruiting skilled trades and craft professionals at a Talent Acquisition Partner, Recruiter, or HR Business Partner level, along with a strong understanding of trades-based hiring and workforce planning. Alternatively, Journeyperson experience in a relevant trade combined with exposure to recruitment processes will also be considered. You are skilled at building relationships, managing competing priorities, and delivering a high-quality recruitment experience for candidates and hiring leaders alike.
Additional qualifications include:
- Post-secondary education in Business, Human Resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (including technical training as a qualified tradesperson).
Demonstrated success recruiting for skilled trades positions such as Heavy Equipment Technician, Welder, Electrician, Parts Technician, and similar technical roles.
Experience managing high recruitment volumes while maintaining quality outcomes and attention to detail.
Strong sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and full-cycle recruitment administration skills.
Ability to work independently while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Experience using applicant tracking systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to collaborate effectively with HR teams and operational leaders.
Nice to Have:
- Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) or Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.
- Experience with UKG Pro.
- English/French bilingualism.
