EDER 626-001/002. Theory and Praxis of Culture and Citizenship.
Description: Study and critique of contemporary ethics and cultural education models with a specific emphasis on Quebec’s Culture and Citizenship program. Introduction to a variety of theoretical and practical perspectives on the roles culture and citizenship play starting from our personal lives to the classroom.
This course is not Team taught or offered online.

Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs):
Education:
1. PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is required. In exceptional cases, a master’s degree in a relevant field and extensive relevant experience will be considered.
Experience:
1. Expert knowledge of course content:
Critical understanding of contemporary ethics.
Critical understanding of theoretical and practical perspectives on the roles of culture and citizenship from personal to educational/school contexts.
Expert knowledge of the Culture and Citizenship in Quebec program.
2. Familiarity with the Professional Competencies for Teachers specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
3. Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP).
4. Experience teaching in the Quebec school system (secondary).
5. Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) to pre-service teachers.
Other:
1. Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion.
2. Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences.
3. Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset.
4. Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools.
5. Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors.
6. Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date.
