JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Grizzly Paw Controller - temporary leave coverage, 3 months, immediate start 90,000 -120,000
The Grizzly Paw is a craft brewery and hospitality company located in Canmore, AB at the heart of the Canadian Rockies since 1996. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Controller is the leader of the administration team, supporting the brewery, restaurants and retail operations. This person will need to have strong administration skills, a passion for details and the ability to make empowered decisions. This position will be based out of our brewing facility, but will be required to have the flexibility to carry out tasks at each location as required. Strong relationship skills are required, as this position will interact with customers, colleagues and government bodies.
Due to the temporary nature of this role, we want to emphasize the possibility of a flexible schedule, remote work, or other accommodations that would facilitate this transition.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily admin operations and leadership of the admin team
- Prepare valuable internal and external reports: budgets, forecasts, results, etc.
- Prepare month end reports along with schedules, JE's and reconciliations
- Ensure internal controls and standard procedures are followed
- Mitigate risk and review insurance needs
- Communication with key stakeholders: banks, government agencies
- Evaluate capital projects, contracts and new opportunities
- Assist the admin and management team in developing additional SOP's
- Preparation of audit documents
- Provide support and training to accounting staff as required
- Support to the management team: make data available, lead the budget process, supply reports and provide financial advice
- Represent the company mission, vision and values at all times
- Maintain proper audit track records, follow company policies & procedures
- Develop and maintain close and effective working relationship with all supporting departments
- Follow health & safety guidelines at all time
- Consider the environmental impact of all decisions
- Other duties and projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- 3-5 years' experience in a supervisory role in accounting, finance, or related field
- Extensive knowledge of the craft beer industry and a passion for hospitality
- Strong knowledge with a variety of software programs required; Microsoft Office, EKOS, Quickbooks, RM, etc.
- Degree or certification in Accounting
- Detail oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
