Who we are looking for:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Pre-Construction Estimator who thrives on building relationships, solving problems, and turning opportunities into successful projects. As a key member of the Sales and Business Development team, you will play a critical role in shaping project success from the earliest stages, developing accurate budgets, presenting proposals, and guiding clients through the pre-construction process with confidence and professionalism. This role also supports the early stages of project planning by coordinating vendor information, assisting with vendor prequalification and maintaining accurate cost data within our ERP system.

Key Responsibility (Performance Objective):
Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, professional consultants, and trade partners by demonstrating integrity, transparency, and dependable service in every interaction.
Coordinate vendor prequalification, and maintain an accurate cost database to support the preconstruction and project management process.
Follow WDI Group’s progressive budgeting process to assemble and present project budgets to potential clients in an engaging and positive manner, delivering a standard of excellence through accurate budgeting, clear communication, and reliable follow-through within promised deadlines.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Research, pre-qualify, select, and negotiate with trade partners and vendors to secure competitive pricing and validate project budgets.
- Coordinate the prequalification process for new and existing vendors, suppliers and subcontractors, including collecting documentation, tracking submissions, and maintaining current records to support pre-construction and estimating requirements.
- Maintain and update the cost database with current pricing, vendor information, historical project data, and relevant market information.
- Assemble budget proposals for prospective projects using WDI Group's construction ERP.
- Present budget proposals to potential clients in an organized, straightforward, and professional manner that reflects WDI Group's commitment to excellence.
- Visit proposed project sites as required and coordinate with the WDI design team throughout the pre-construction process.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, professional consultants, and trade partners by demonstrating integrity, transparency, and dependable service in every interaction.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with internal teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors to support accurate budgeting and timely decision-making.
- Coordinate with management and other departments as required to support project pursuits and business objectives.
- Maintain estimating files, documentation, and correspondence in WDI Group's ERP, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other electronic systems in accordance with company procedures.
- Represent and uphold WDI Group's Mission, Vision, and Values in all interactions and activities.
- Contribute to a positive client experience by delivering accurate budgets, meeting commitments, and helping ensure a seamless transition from pre-construction to project execution.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience with a commercial construction firm.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction, project management principles, and basic accounting concepts.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and consultant documentation to develop accurate project budgets.
- Excellent understanding of gross profit and its impact on project budgeting and business performance.
- Positive, engaging communicator with strong presentation, relationship-building, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Maintains sound judgment, professionalism, and a clear, organized approach in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptable and solutions-focused, with the ability to balance client expectations, project requirements, and business objectives.
- Resourceful thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Committed to following established WDI Group systems and processes while delivering a high standard of service.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Word, and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software and technology; experience with construction ERP systems is considered an asset.
Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
