General Description
The position involves the repetitive weighing of soil/rock powders for the chemical laboratory and supervising the Afternoon Shift.
Education Required: High School Diploma
Shifts: Full-Time, Monday-Friday. Afternoon Shift (3:00pm-11:00pm).
Requirements:
- At least one year of supervisory experience (in any capacity) or relevant lab experience.
- Motivated, detail-oriented and ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrate common sense and strong organizational skills.
- Problem-solver and provide suggestions, actions on the next plausible step.
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work as a team member, independently and work well unsupervised.
- Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
- Exhibit willingness and effort to meet company goals of improved TAT, quality and reduction of costs.
- Demonstrate willingness to work overtime if required to complete projects.
Responsibilities
May include some or all of the following; or any other tasks assigned directly or indirectly by the Process Owner Supervisor
- Responsible for all areas in weigh, ensuring samples moves through in a fast and efficient manner with a focus on reducing company turnaround time, reducing quality problems by putting in place corrective and preventative actions and controlling costs.
- Daily supervision of staff, maintain work schedules, use metrics to track and evaluate weigh performance, provide effective feedback, resolve issues within the weigh area and continuously improve the weigh procedures.
- Provide technical training and guidance to technicians.
- Perform weigh procedures and tasks.
- Ensure turnaround time meets clients and President’s requirements by working overtime when required.
- Ensure staff takes ownership and are accountable for the resources within the department including cleanliness/organization and maintenance of equipment.
- Use of LIMS and the Support Site including checking filters or creating rush lab jobs/additional lab jobs when they are required to be weighed in the afternoon.
- Communicate with the Production Manager or Designate regarding sample discrepancies.
- Ensure adequate supplies are in house for performance and costs are controlled.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment in accordance with policies and procedures and staff are operating in accordance with Actlabs policies and procedures.
- Foster and maintain a positive environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, grievances are dealt in a timely manner, and communication with employees ensures quality operation.
