Position Summary:
The Mental Health Counsellor provides short-term, patient-centered mental health care within a primary care setting. Working with individuals and families, the MHC conducts assessments, collaborates with patients to establish goals, and delivers counselling, education, and resource navigation to support improved mental health and well‑being.
Qualifications
· Education at the master’s level in social science or health-related discipline.
· Current registration and good standing with either the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
· Minimum 2 years’ experience as a therapist, social worker, or counsellor working with people with mental health and/or addiction issues.
· Ability to provide feedback on program implementation and evaluation.
· Extensive knowledge of the issues arising from disabilities, deteriorating mental/physical health and of the conditions which contribute to social isolation and discrimination.
· Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
