THE ROLE:
Our growing Canadian organization is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support a fast-moving investment and business lending environment. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in financial restructuring, tax compliance, investor reporting, and ongoing accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation and maintenance of accurate profit and loss reporting, including detailed analysis of revenues, costs, margins, and overall financial performance
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
Oversee and execute month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
Review and reconcile merchant cash advance (MCA) transactions, including commissions, settlements, collections, and related deductions
Prepare and submit indirect tax filings, including GST/PST returns, while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
Coordinate communications and information requests with federal and provincial tax authorities
Partner with external accounting firms and investor representatives to support reporting, compliance, and financial disclosure requirements
Assist with year-end reporting activities, audit preparation, and supporting documentation
Review investor agreements, finder fee arrangements, and other financial contracts, identifying potential accounting or financial reporting implications
Contribute to process improvements and help strengthen internal accounting practices within a fast-paced and evolving environment

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
CPA designation preferred
Experience within business lending, private investment, alternative financing, merchant cash advance, or related financial services environments is highly desirable
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and financial reporting requirements
Experience preparing GST/PST and other indirect tax filings
Proven ability to manage month-end and year-end accounting processes
Strong financial analysis and reconciliation skills
Experience supporting audits and working with external accounting partners
Ability to review and interpret financial agreements and contracts
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
Self-starter who can work independently and adapt to changing priorities
Confident, proactive, and eager to learn within a growth-oriented organization
