Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Superintendent role will be responsible for supporting site’s Superintendent in overseeing trades and effectively managing daily on-site activities. This individual must possess the knowledge and confidence to engage and professionally interact with sub-contractors and other construction related personnel.
Qualifications & Knowledge:
- Minimum 3 years construction experience
- Possess effective communication skills
- Proactive planning abilities
- Strong Problem solving skills
- Demonstrated competence in safety, people management, trade work, and computer applications
- Post-Secondary Degree in construction related program is preferred
- Strong compute skills including MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Project and MS Excel
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform construction activities as directed by the Site Superintendent
- Assist in monitoring work performance and efficiency of site work force to ensure project plans and schedule are followed
- Prepare daily reports outlining progress of activities underway and identifying activities anticipated to commence and/or to be complete on the look ahead schedule
- Oversee and direct site personnel required for the project
- On-site assessment prior to commencing work to ensure site readiness
- Review all drawings, specifications, site instructions, and report any discrepancies directly to Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager
- Review construction schedule with Site Superintendent and ensure that all trades and suppliers are aware of critical dates
- Maintain communication with Project Manager, Site Superintendent, and inspectors throughout the construction process
- Communicate with subcontractors and field staff to ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and specifications
- · Keep management current on the status of any issue(s) that may impact the work being performed
- Periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production
- Quality control inspections of work in place
