Labourer / Scrap Material Handler
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and categorize different types of metals e.g. steel, copper, aluminum.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently. e.g. cutting torch
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Conduct inspections to ensure materials meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow safety protocols and company procedures.
- Interact with customers and handle transactions.
- Keep accurate records of materials and transactions.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with various types of scrap materials and recycling processes.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding and adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, move, and sort heavy materials. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Mechanical Skills: Operating machinery and tools used in scrap processing.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately sort and categorize materials.
- Organizational Skills: Efficiently manage materials and inventory.
- Customer Service: Communication skills for interacting with customers.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and process challenges.
- Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate records and documentation.
1-3 years experience in a scrap yard setting considered an asset.
