JOB TITLE: Bartender
DEPARTMENT: Bar/Lounge
RESPONSIBLE TO: Bar/Lounge Manager/Assistant
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Bartender
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The role of the Bartender is to provide high quality beverages for the venue. You will complete orders taken by other members of staff but also be customer facing to guests sitting at the bar. Follow and guide staff on standards and comply with laws set in place for the supply of alcohol.
MAIN DUTIES:
TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PRODUCTION AND SERVICE OF BEVERAGES WITHIN THE VENUE.

- Ensures the highest beverage quality and service.
- Ensures guest orders are accurately take and entered into POS
- Adheres to company standards of service quality, preparation, and presentation.
- Ensures guests are served in a timely matter.
- To memorize all beverage recipes and notes, ensuring the ability to advise and recommend to guests.
- Ensures readiness and makes priorities in case of last minute changes to reservations.
- Adheres to all health, sanitation and food safety rules and regulations.
- Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported and reduced immediately.
- Ensures that employees work in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others.
- Anticipates possible and probable hazards and conditions and either corrects them or takes action to prevent them from happening.
- Keeps the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, appropriate uniform, appearance, and conduct.
- Sets up for service by ensuring everything is set up for forecasted covers, special functions and all reservations.
- To carry out any other duties as directed by Management, Director and Head Office.
- To study and memorize NZR Group guidelines, Employee handbook and Food guides.
- To ensure that your service in the restaurant is the standard that the NZR Group has set.
- To comply with the alcohol licensing laws.
- To work collectively within a team, supporting other members and assisting management.
- Assist in end of shift reporting for the bar, ensuring checklist sheets are completed.
- To confer closely with the Bar/Lounge Manager and take every opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of his or her position, in order to be ready to fill in whenever needed.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Actively participate in assisting to achieve departmental goals and objectives and carry out assigned work by Managers and Supervisors.
- Actively engage in your own personal development to benefit the business and improve your personal skills – probationary period reviews, annual appraisals, attending training and development courses.
- Actively participate in weekly/monthly meetings that you are required to attend.
- Actively participate in addressing complaints and resolving problems.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Suggest changes to menus, to reflect local, seasonal and national trends.
- Recommends better preparation procedures to Bar/Lounge Manager.
- Works with Bar Manger to ensure par stock levels are maintained, ordering where necessary
- Maintains own working area, materials and company property clean, tidy and in good shape; reports defective materials and equipment to management.
- Attend any meeting or training session as required by Management.
- Maintains a safe and hygienic work environment.
- Is conversant and complies with:
- The company fire and health and safety procedures
- The company security procedures
- The property facilities
- Licensing regulations
- Operation standards and departmental procedures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Walk and stand.
- Bend forward.
- Kneel down.
- Reach and grasp.
- Push and pull objects.
- Lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, sometimes over shoulder.
- Repetitive bending and lifting of items.
- Repetitive arm movements.
KNOWLEDGE, PERSONAL SKILLS & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 4 years’ restaurant/bar experience in a premium upscale setting.
- Smartserve certification
- Excellent command of English language (Written and spoken).
- Ability to communicate with customers and peers with a friendly and positive attitude.
- Self-motivated, continuously seeking to succeed and progress in career within the company.
- Extremely flexible and committed.
- Lively, enthusiastic and confident.
- Ability to handle difficult situations successfully.
- Good supervisory and organizational skills.
