As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for executing or leading the development of avionics products for safety‑critical and/or military applications within a multi‑disciplinary development team. In this role, you will report to the Displays and Panels Engineering Manager and will be primarily responsible for leading and supporting the development of avionics products for the Panels product group.
As a System Engineer your key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the Engineering Design Authority for the Panels product group by approving ECOs and providing technical leadership to ensure engineering efforts align with stakeholders and core technologies.
- Working within, and when required leading, multi‑disciplinary teams, acting as the technical bridge across engineering, quality, verification, and supplier teams to clarify system behavior, scope, and intent.
- Reviewing and estimating bids and proposals, collaborating with engineers and customers to validate cost‑effective solutions that meet requirements and address scope challenges.
- Maintaining strong customer relationships, including participating in trade shows and customer workshops to understand customer needs, and providing technical assistance for demonstrations and technical meetings.
- Ensuring verification of system‑level requirements and validation that they meet customer and certification standards.
To join our team, you must:
- Member of the OIQ or eligible for OIQ membership.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments such as avionics, aerospace, naval, automotive, telecommunications, or medical.
- Previous exposure to safety‑critical or military applications.
- Experience collaborating with customers (trade shows, workshops, technical demos or technical meetings).
- Familiarity with avionics‑related standards and practices (e.g., requirements traceability, configuration management, verification and validation frameworks).
- Experience leading or coordinating multi‑disciplinary engineering teams (electronics, software, firmware, mechanical, optics, etc.).
To excel in this role, you must have:
- Hold a degree in electrical engineering or equivalent;
- Possess at least 5 years’ of relevant engineering experience, preferably in a technology environment such as aeronautics, aerospace, naval, automotive, telecommunications, or medical;
- Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines (e.g., electronics, software, firmware, algorithms, mechanical, optics) and collaborating on system integration and troubleshooting with limited technical guidance.
- Understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, integration, verification, validation), including interface control, configuration management, and requirements traceability.
- Strong organizational, technical writing, and documentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English and French.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain required security clearances.
