Job Purpose
The Consultant - Business Planning is responsible for providing client consultation and is accountable for helping clients implement business plans and secure grants, conduct market research and financial planning, and drive the success of projects to support efficiencies and profitability. The Consultant - Business Planning collaborates with clients to advise on strategic financial decisions, prioritizing efficiency and profitability.
The Consultant - Business Planning will also provide support to the business itself through exploring opportunities for government tenders, providing input on business processes, and supporting company culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial
● Provide financial planning for client projects, including cost estimation and budgeting for grant-supported farm initiatives.
● Collaborate with clients to contribute to large strategic financial decisions
● Monitor production activities and ensure production meets target goals to produce profits
People, Policies & Practices
● Respond to requests from clients and provide information to support farm business plans, account management, and operations
● Generate reports regarding project management status as needed
● Provide timely project status reports to clients and stakeholders
Interpersonal Skills & Contacts
● Educate clients on grants, responsibilities, programs, and certifications
● Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive business plans
Problem Solving & Judgment
● Maintain current knowledge of program and grant rules, regulations, requirements, and restrictions
● Lead effective program planning and manage projects to completion.
● Collaborate with peers to evaluate the success of projects
Information Resources
● Manage and track tasks in project management software to maintain effective and efficient project management
● Support the growth of the consulting division through the development of strategic marketing initiatives in collaboration with the Marketing team.
Qualifications
Education
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture or Business, preferably with a focus on Agricultural Management, or equivalent relevant experience
● Certified Professional Accountant Designation preferred
Knowledge & Experience
● 5 years’ previous working experience in an agricultural role
● 2 years’ experience in business planning, accounting, financial planning, or credit underwriting
● Proficient in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
● Experience with Ontario and federal agricultural funding programs is an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
