Under the direction of the Planning and Development Manager, this non-union position is responsible for leading and implementing the City of Dawson’s economic development, housing, and strategic project initiatives. The Economic Development Officer (EDO) serves as a key link between policy and implementation by advancing priority projects, securing external funding, fostering partnerships, and supporting sustainable economic growth within the community.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders to support development opportunities, housing initiatives, strategic planning priorities, and investment attraction efforts. - Post-secondary degree in Economic Development, Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, planning, project management, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in grant writing, funding acquisition, and project delivery
- Experience in municipal government or the public sector is preferred
- Experience working in northern or rural communities is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of economic development principles, land development processes, and municipal governance
- Knowledge of funding programs, grant processes, and reporting requirements
- Ability to analyze economic data, market conditions, and development feasibility
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence required

Salary & Benefits:
Non-Union management position. Salary range of $77,900.00 - $93,016.67 plus benefits, in accordance with the Management Employment Bylaw.
