Job Description
We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and customer-focused Beer Vendor Cashier to join our team. This position involves more than cashiering. In addition to providing excellent customer service and processing sales, the successful candidate will assist with merchandising, inventory management, and the loading and unloading of products.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and is willing to assist with various day-to-day operational duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance regarding beer products, promotions, and available selections.
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process sales transactions efficiently and securely.
- Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and other payment methods with accuracy and integrity.
- Follow all required legal age-verification procedures and responsible alcohol service policies.
- Maintain clean, organized, and attractive product displays.
- Stock and arrange products to ensure shelves and displays remain well maintained.
- Promote featured products and assist with merchandising activities.
- Conduct product demonstrations when applicable and permitted.
- Upsell related products or premium options where appropriate to maximize sales opportunities.
- Monitor product levels and update stock inventory accurately.
- Receive incoming products and assist with checking deliveries.
- Occasionally load and unload products from pallets, either independently or as part of a team.
- Move, carry, and organize cases, boxes, and other products safely.
- Assist with inventory counts and report shortages, damaged products, or discrepancies to management.
- Keep the cash area, sales floor, storage areas, and work areas clean and organized.
- Answer customer questions and assist customers over the phone when needed.
- Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining accuracy and excellent customer service.
- Assist coworkers with daily operational duties, including stocking, cleaning, opening, and closing tasks.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and company policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are an asset.
- Previous cashier, retail sales, customer service, food, or beverage experience is an asset.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle customer inquiries professionally and courteously.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, calculating change, and maintaining transaction accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills to manage product displays and inventory effectively.
- Ability to operate or learn POS systems and follow cash-handling procedures.
- Knowledge of merchandising and upselling techniques is an asset.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy and lively environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, and willing to take initiative.
- Ability to perform physical duties such as lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading products.
- Professional phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Must be willing to perform duties beyond the cash register when required.
