King Animal Hospital is seeking compassionate, motivated, and safety-focused Equine Animal Care Attendants to join our growing Equine team. King Animal Hospital is a privately owned, state-of-the-art referral and emergency hospital serving both equine and small animal patients. Our 60,000 sq. ft. facility on 50 acres in King City, Ontario is equipped with advanced diagnostics and supported by a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Our Equine service provides advanced medical and surgical care, working alongside board-certified specialists and experienced veterinary professionals to deliver exceptional care for every patient.
As an Equine Animal Care Attendant, you will work closely with veterinarians, RVTs, specialists, and fellow support staff to assist with patient care, diagnostics, surgery, and hospital operations.

As an Equine Animal Care Attendant, you'll play an important role in supporting patient care throughout every stage of the hospital visit.
Patient Care & Hospital Support
- Welcome clients and safely assist with unloading equine patients
- Direct patients to assigned stalls and ensure admission documentation is complete
- Notify the veterinary team of patient arrivals
- Safely restrain and handle horses during examinations and treatments
- Weigh patients and accurately identify stalls, feed, and belongings
- Clean and maintain stalls, treatment areas, equipment, and barn facilities
- Prepare patient discharge items and assist with safe trailer loading
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish supplies as needed
- Follow proper sharps disposal and biohazard protocols
- Assist with manure management and general hospital cleanliness
Technical & Clinical Support
- Jog and lunge patients for diagnostic examinations
- Assist with patient restraint using appropriate handling equipment and techniques
- Prepare IV catheter sites, treatment areas, and surgical sites
- Prepare patients for bone scans and follow required PPE protocols
- Assist with radiography and other advanced diagnostic imaging procedures
- Set up diagnostic equipment including ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiography, and therapeutic laser units
- Operate IV fluid and syringe pumps under supervision
- Prepare operating rooms and recovery areas
- Learn and maintain sterile surgical technique
- Assist with patient positioning for surgery, MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine procedures
- Utilize EzyVet to support diagnostic requests and patient workflow
Advanced Skills You'll Learn
Successful candidates will receive on-the-job training in advanced procedures, including:
- Assisting with anesthetic induction and recovery
- Head rope and tail rope handling
- Patient stabilization during induction and recovery
- Placement of mouth gags and leg straps
- Hoist operation and patient transfer
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Animal Care Attendant education or certification is considered an asset
- Previous experience in a veterinary referral or emergency hospital is an asset
- Knowledge of equine handling, veterinary procedures, and medical terminology
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to patient safety and compassionate care
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work throughout the day
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnights
