About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. Role Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the Mine Geologist provides front-line geological support for definition and delineation drilling programs, including diamond drill coordination, contractor interface, drill forecasting, and cost tracking. The role contributes directly to grade control execution through ongoing geological and structural mapping, interpretation of mineralized zones, and development and maintenance of 3D geological models. Working closely with mine operations, engineering, and planning teams, the Mine Geologist ensures geological interpretations are translated into clear, practical guidance that supports short- to mid-term mine planning and daily production decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections, job and task observations to ensure compliance to safety standards.
- Training and mentoring of GITs, and entry-level staff.
- Make recommendations for additional diamond drilling to improve understanding of the ore deposit.
- Participate with Geology, Engineering, Exploration and Operations in short and mid-term mine planning.
- Understand stope reconciliations, dilution estimates, grade forecasting and grade blending.
- Provide technical direction to GITs and Geological Technicians
- Assist with the development and updating of geological and grade wireframes under the guidance of the Senior Mine Geologist..
- Data entry and basic administrative tasks.
- Support drill contract management, and cost control.
- Contribute to production forecasting to ensure outputs are accurate and achievable, and in-line with company goals.
- All other tasks related to the operations of Island Gold Mine as required by Senior Mine Geologist.
Qualifications:
- Sc. in Geology
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a production setting of an underground mine
- Strong communication, computing, planning and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility/Adaptability, Analytical Skills, Safety
Working Conditions:
- 7x7 rotation
- Office and underground work environment.
Physical requirements:
- May be required to manipulate core boxes and sample bags which can weigh 40-50 pounds.
- Periodic travel underground.
- Has obtained the necessary certifications to work in an underground mine environment.
The schedule for this position is based in a camp operation working on an 7/7 rotation schedule with flights provided from Sudbury Toronto and Rouyn-Noranda. Pay or shift range: $80,600 and $128,750 CAD
