Being a great cook isn’t just about serving great food in good time: it also takes accuracy.
So if you’ve got the knife skills that will keep you yelling “service!” rather than “medic!” we’ve got an opportunity for you.
We’re Johnny Rocco’s Italian Grill, and we’ve been serving fantastic food with unbeatable value to St.Catharines and Niagara Falls for years. For us, cooking isn’t just about making the best food: it’s about providing a great experience that absolutely anyone can enjoy.
Our success comes from hiring great people who consistently deliver the goods without losing their cool.
That’s where you come in
As our new Line Cook , you’ll be taking on a support role in our busy, fast-paced kitchen. Using your solid fundamentals, you’ll prep, cook, and plate dishes coming through your station.
Our recipes have been perfected over years, so you’ll need to follow direction carefully to replicate elements flawlessly. Before and after service, you’ll also be pitching in on cleanup, and making sure that food safety guidelines are followed at all times.
You’ll be doing a lot more than frying potatoes and tossing salads. This is a great opportunity to take your food knowledge to the next level, and work in a fast-paced, large scale, cooperative kitchen with some truly great chefs.
We’re very particular about who we hire, and everyone the team works together to turn out great food every time.
Beyond your cooking chops, you’ll need to be:
- Cooperative – you’re good at keeping on eye out for problems in the kitchen, and pitch in whenever you can. You don’t mind asking for help when you need it.
- Good under stress – when things get tough, so do you. You’re at your best when people are counting on you to get things done.
- A strong communicator – it’s essential that everyone in the kitchen is on the same page. Whether you’re giving updates, or thinking ahead to what’s next, you’re always clear, positive, and direct with coworkers.
Working at Johnny Rocco’s
This is a full-time, permanent position, with variable afternoon and evening shifts. You’ll also be working weekends. Shifts start as early as 10am and end as late as 12am.
Besides a competitive starting wage, you’ll get your meals at a discount and access to our communal tip pool. We’re consistently busy, which means that you’ll always work full shifts when you’re scheduled.
We reward top performers with things like gift cards, and we always make internal promotions whenever possible. So if you’ve got the aptitude and the desire, you’ll be able to move up in the cooking ranks.
We’ve got an amazing, positive group of people in the kitchen who like to have a good time and work together to get things done. We have an open kitchen, which means no good deed goes unnoticed: many of our customers enjoy talking with the kitchen staff and giving them compliments on the great food!
