Laundry Sheet Picker Operator
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Laundry Sheet Picker Operator to join our production team. This position is responsible for operating the sheet picker equipment, which is used to separate and feed sheets from laundry carts into the production system.
The operator will load the sheet picker with full laundry carts containing sheets and ensure the equipment is operated safely and efficiently. This includes making sure all cart doors and machine safety doors are properly closed before operation, using the computer controls to activate the dump cycle, and monitoring the process to ensure sheets are moving correctly through the system.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced laundry environment and be able to pay close attention to safety procedures at all times. This role requires good communication with other production team members, as the sheet picker operator plays an important part in keeping the ironers and finishing equipment supplied with linen.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Load laundry carts filled with sheets into the sheet picker area.
- Ensure carts are positioned correctly before dumping.
- Confirm that all cart doors, machine doors, and safety guards are fully closed before operating the equipment.
- Operate the computer controls to dump sheets safely and efficiently.
- Monitor the sheet picker while in operation to make sure linen is feeding properly.
- Watch for jams, tangled linen, overloaded carts, or other issues that could affect production.
- Stop the machine and notify a supervisor or maintenance if there are any safety or mechanical concerns.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of loose linen or other tripping hazards.
- Work closely with feeders, ironer operators, and production staff to maintain steady workflow.
- Follow all company safety procedures and equipment operating instructions.
- Assist with moving laundry carts as needed.
- Report damaged carts, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain a consistent pace while ensuring accuracy and safety.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous laundry, production, warehouse, or machine operation experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to follow instructions and operate basic computer controls.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Comfortable working around moving machinery.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and move carts throughout the shift.
- Able to work in a warm, fast-paced production environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
Pay: $18.25-$20.00 per hour
