As Director of Fairmont Spa Banff Springs, you will be responsible for the establishment and execution of clear short-term and long-term goals to ensure the spa is recognized as one of the finest resort spas in the world. These goals must ensure Employee Satisfaction, Guest Satisfaction, Financial Success, Health and Safety and Environmental Stewardship. The Spa Director is responsible for the daily leadership of the spa operations ensuring all productivity and expense controls are followed as well as ensuring all revenue opportunities are capitalized upon.
Job Duties Include:
Reporting to the Hotel Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Direct the overall operation of the spa facility, ensuring seamless execution of both short- and long-term strategic plans while consistently upholding the highest luxury service standards.

Establish and ensure execution of all departmental goals ensuring alignment with the brand’s luxury positioning and guest experience expectations.

Manage, train, and motivate all personnel reporting to this position.

Serve as a link between Fairmont Spa and the Spa industry.

Plan and execute all capital expenditures
-
Maintain thorough knowledge of competitors, including location, product offering, pricing, and promotions, including sales techniques.

Work with Hotel & Regional Sales and Marketing as required.

Identify new business and marketing opportunities and assist in the implementation of 12-month marketing plan.

Ensure guest/member satisfaction at all times by ensuring that safety and service is always the Spa's first priority.
Administrative Duties:
-
Establish professional business relationship with all vendors and develop par product inventories.
-
Ensure adherence of standard operating procedures for each department.
-
Establish ongoing administrative controls.
-
Assist in the recruitment, development and training of all department heads and support staff.
-
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures Manual.
-
Ensure effective weekly/monthly departmental communication meetings.
Health and Wellness:
-
Ensure colleagues have a complete understanding and adhere to the Hotel's policy relating to health, safety and wellness.

Have complete understanding of and adhere to all company policies and rules including those relating to Fire, Hygiene and Safety
-
Assist in the development and adherence of all departmental Emergency Procedures.
-
Ensure all Spa colleagues are well versed in emergency procedures.

Responsible for maintaining and upholding all AHS Pool Standards
Financial Responsibilities:
-
Actively lead fiscal budgeting and analysis, including the development of annual budgets for the departments within the facility.

Monitor payroll hours and hotel administered service charges/gratuity reports.

Submit month-end profit and loss statement and variance report to Hotel Manager

Administer operations and capital improvement budget preparation
-
Review purchase requisitions and expenditures to ensure they are in keeping within a zero based operating expense budget.

Review of remuneration of all salaried employees and independent contractors.
Employee Relations:
-
Ensure Spa department maintains a positive relationship with all departments in the Hotel.

Lead development of facility's workforce planning
-
Establish short-term and long-term goals for each supervisor and review status of each goal on a monthly basis.

Responsible for supervising all aspects of employees ie. hiring, recognition, progressive corrective action, etc.

Ensure appropriate job task training programs are in place for all Spa colleagues.

Ensure all Spa colleagues adhere to all hotel standards as stated in the employee handbook.
-
Ensure performance appraisals are conducted in a timely manner.
-
Ensure the facility is in peak operating condition at all times
Qualifications
Your Skills & Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 5 years experience in management position in a Resort Spa or related field.
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or hospitality, desired, but not required.
-
Human Resources or Team Relations experience is required
-
Experience in the hospitality industry an asset.
-
Desire to provide phenomenal guest experiences.
-
Standing and walking throughout shift - 20% of time
-
Sitting at a desk, computer work – 80% of time
