About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate is a skilled troubleshooter with strong diagnostic abilities, particularly in electrical and hydraulic systems. This position also requires experience in welding and fabrication to support equipment repairs and modifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy-duty equipment.
- Perform advanced diagnostics on electrical systems, including wiring, sensors, controllers, and charging/starting systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses, and hydraulic controls.
- Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to maximize equipment reliability.
- Complete welding and fabrication work for repairs, equipment modifications, and custom projects.
- Repair and replace mechanical components, including engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspension, and braking systems.
- Operate diagnostic software and specialized testing equipment.
- Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
- Work collaboratively with operators and supervisors to minimize equipment downtime.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding.
- Experience with fabrication, including cutting, fitting, and modifying steel components.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
- Experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s licence; Class 1 or CDL is considered an asset.
- CVIP certification, air brake endorsement, or other related certifications are considered assets.
