We’re currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent Industrial Systems Engineer.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Industrial & Agricultural – Technical Lead, and working closely with a strong multi-disciplinary team, the Industrial Systems Engineer will provide technical support and guidance to support the retrofit and implementation of energy efficiency projects for industrial and agricultural based customers. Responsibilities are very diverse and will include customer engagement ranging from the early design stage to post implementation measurement and verification stages. Activities will concentrate on the promotion, identification, assessment, and verification of energy conservation initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the analysis and assessment of customer energy efficiency opportunities in manufacturing and processing environments.
- Provide technical assistance to industrial plant owners, system operators and their engineering support teams to promote the principles of energy management.
- Responsible for assessing system metering/data collection requirements to support the reporting of customer energy performance metrics.
- Review customer applications to ensure compliance with program eligibility criteria.
- Prepare energy savings estimates and calculate eligible incentives.
- Maintain an advanced working knowledge in the application, design, installation, operation, and maintenance of various energy efficiency strategies.
- Assist in the development and delivery of industrial and agricultural energy efficiency programs.
- Represent Efficiency Manitoba in a professional manner in formal and informal settings.
- Perform analysis and evaluations associated with high performance facility and process measures and technologies using analytical tools for the purpose of measurement and verification of energy use.
- Participate in reviewing, commenting and revising industry guidelines and standards related to industrial system energy use.
- Occasionally work in a variety of adverse job environments commonly found in industrial, agricultural and large commercial industries within Manitoba.
- Be actively engaged in relevant industry associations to promote high performance equipment and systems and encourage participation in Efficiency Manitoba programs.
- Occasionally required to travel and attend meetings and functions outside of normal working hours.
REQUIREMENTS
- A four-year degree from a university of recognized standing majoring in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, plus a minimum of four years related experience, including two years directly related to energy management.
- Membership in Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
- Certifications in energy efficiency and sustainability field such as CEM, CMVP, and/or others are an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of the equipment, processes and systems utilized in industrial, agricultural, municipal and institutional settings.
- Experience with compressed air systems, motor driven electrical systems, and other industrial based equipment.
- Experience in project assessment, equipment design and measurement & verification planning would be an asset.
- Possess a good working knowledge of standard industrial workplace safety practices and procedures.
- Experience with natural gas and electricity rates as used to perform savings calculations for energy efficiency measures.
- Proven ability to independently plan, organize and manage multiple projects in specific areas of responsibility involving a high degree of specialization while meeting deadlines and commitments.
- A strong commitment to and enthusiasm for customer service and energy efficiency.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the writing, editing, and reviewing of reports.
- Demonstrated diplomacy and tact with proven capability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with all levels of internal and external stakeholders in written and oral formats.
- Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office suite software.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license.

The starting salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, with candidates whose qualifications are closer to the minimum requirements for the position typically joining the organization at a salary nearer to the lower end of the range. The salary range for this position is $80,030.32 to $110,430.58 annually.
