Reporting to the Program Coordinator, Instructors will be responsible for monitoring or planning and delivering instructional sport programs to participants. They will be directly involved in the implementation and delivery of age-appropriate activities, ensure participant safety and engagement, follow policies and procedures, and work effectively with all staff.
- High Five PHCD Certification is required if working with participants ages 4 – 12 years
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-B certification (Standard First Aid and CPR C for on ice programs)
- NCCP/Coaching Certification and/or equivalent is considered an asset
- Minimum age of 15 years
- Minimum 1 year experience related to the type of activity being taught is preferred
- Previous experience working with the assigned age group
- Excellent communication, decision making and customer service skills
- Ability to deliver the specified program on an instructional basis and teach the rules of the game
- Ability to work with minimal supervision (responsible, dependable, independent)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrate the City’s corporate values of service, collaboration, care and courage
- Ability to perform first aid to the standard of your certification
- Coaching experience would be an asset
- Demonstrates good judgment and makes sound decisions
