Reggio Emilia Inspired Early Childhood Educator For Infant Class
Piccioli Early Learning Centre is seeking a passionate and creative Early Childhood Educator with expertise in the Reggio Emilia approach. The ideal candidate will foster an inquiry-based, child-centered learning environment where children are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and develop critical thinking skills. The educator will work collaboratively with children, families, and colleagues to create meaningful learning experiences that honor each child's interests, abilities, and potential. Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Learning Environment
- Implement the Reggio Emilia philosophy by designing an emergent, child-led curriculum.
- Create and maintain a warm, welcoming, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and collaboration.
- Use a project-based approach with open-ended materials, art, nature, and sensory experiences.
- Document children’s learning through observations, portfolios, photos, and learning stories.
- Support children’s social-emotional development through responsive and respectful interactions.
Collaboration & Positive Team Atmosphere
- Contribute to a supportive and inspiring team environment, fostering open communication and mutual respect among colleagues.
- Actively participate in team meetings, professional development, and reflective practices to enhance educational experiences.
- Engage in ongoing learning and collaboration to uphold the Reggio Emilia philosophy.
- Work in partnership with families, valuing their role as co-educators in their child’s learning journey.
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing insights into their child’s development and involving them in classroom activities.
Classroom Management & Child Development
- Create an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Encourage independence, self-expression, and problem-solving skills.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized learning space that reflects children’s interests and learning processes.
- Implement positive guidance strategies aligned with the Reggio Emilia philosophy and Alberta Childcare Licensing.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Possess an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification at Level 2, or 3.
- Experience working in a Reggio Emilia-inspired setting an asset.
- Possession of or willingness to obtain a valid first aid certification.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening.
- Strong understanding of child development theories and best practices in early education.
- Excellent observational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to foster curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving in young learners.
- Passion for play-based, inquiry-driven learning.
- A collaborative spirit and commitment to a positive team culture.
